Her Last Breath by Charlie Gallagher – Book Review

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

Detective George Elms is tasked with meeting with serial killer, Henry Roberts. Robert is dying from cancer and in exchange for him being moved to a secure unit by the sea to live out his remaining days, he will disclose the location of the two young women whose bodies were never found.

When another young woman goes missing, George starts to question whether Henry Roberts had a partner who is still out there killing. The police force that initially investigated and arrested Roberts are still emotionally damaged from what they saw and heard. When Roberts reveals the details of how the last two women were killed and their location, they are sickened all over again.

In the meanwhile, time is running out for the two women recently abducted.

I think the author did a good job with the intricacies of the plot and rather than bombarding the reader with gory details, he gave just enough information that our minds were able to imagine the horrors of the killings ourselves.

While I found the book a little slow to take off at times, I did enjoy the book and give it 3.5 stars.
